Description
This building was built as a large citadel with 4 watch towers and 14-meter high walls at the orders of Karim Khan, founder of Zandid dynasty. The complex was originally used as the ruler’s palace. During Pahlavi era it was converted to a prison and most of its wall paintings was covered using plaster. Renovations started 50 years ago which lasted for several years. You can see paintings about king’s meetings. There is also a bathroom underneath one of the watch tower which has cause it to lean slightly. There is a small handicraft workshop inside it in which you can see traditional crafting methods.
